Jenny Howard is a young American social worker who works and lives in one the poorest slums (favelas) of Brazil. Although the work is difficult it is also rewarding to be able to help those who need it most. But when a jealous man she had to fire uses macumba – a kind of Afro-Brazilian black magic – to attack her foster child in order to enact revenge against her, she must delve into the depths of the black magic in order to turn it white and save both the child and her work.
